David Morin was born and raised in Hollywood, California. His father, a Harvard law school grad with a pre-med major, took a job as legal counsel for Technicolor Corp., dealing with chemical patents. His mother, Marty Morin, was an actress. His aunt, Patricia Ellis , was a movie star signed to Warner Bros. in the 1930s. David graduated from Hollywood High (Rita Wilson was his prom date), received his B.S. Degree in Marketing & Advertising from Colorado University in Boulder, and got his Juris Doctorate in San Diego at Cal Western School of Law. He served as a White House Intern in college and did famine relief in West Africa with Sudan Interior Missions. After serving as Editor-in-Chief of "Skateboarder's Action Now" Magazine, he returned to school, earning an Associated Arts Degree from Saddleback College in Television Production, where he wrote, produced, directed, edited and co-hosted segments for the TV magazine show "Lifestyles". Acting in a few student films whetted his appetite, and he returned to Los Angeles to study acting for six more years. An acting career shortly followed including roles in major movies, movie-of-the-weeks, 40 guest-star appearances, some 200 national commercials, and two short-lived network television series, including a role as Jennifer Aniston's dad in CBS' sitcom "Muddling Through" (1994)". He has acted opposite Dustin Hoffman, Bette Midler, James Caan, Dyan Cannon, Geena Davis, Andy Garcia , Ossie Davis, Della Reese, John Randolph, Brad Garrett , Patricia Heaton, Heather Locklear, Jean Smart and many others. He was the Artistic Director for the Malibu Vineyard church for nearly ten years, where he wrote, produced and directed countless specials and musicals for live theater and video recordings, as well as producing and directing the humorously renowned Malibu Vineyard Announcements, described as "the fastest six minutes of television live on tape". His short film "Father (2001)", which he co-wrote, produced and directed, won the Damah Film Festival in Seattle for Best Short, and was an Official Selection to the Long Beach International Film Festival. His sitcom experience led him to "trailing" sitcom directors such as James Burrows , Andy Ackerman , Pamela Fryman and Tom Cherones on episodes of "Seinfeld" (1990)", "Caroline in the City" (1995)", "NewsRadio" (1995)", "3rd Rock from the Sun" (1996)" and "Friends" (1994)". David resides in Phoenix, flies to Hollywood for auditions, and is developing his first feature film to produce and direct about a young golfer. hide |
